Post Election (Off) Thoughts

Thoughts that ran through my mind concerning elections:

- Some young voters are , hmm, lost. They only absorb certain facts and then based on those facts vote.
- Who the heck are you to tell me who to vote for? Those pesky msn people keep asking me to vote for a certain party, as friends, let me just say it kindly : SCREW YOURSELF. hahahahahahaha, ok i probably wouldn't say that, but i would say : It's my right to vote for whoever, not yours, back off.
- Yes, certain political party really screwed our country over, but you think the other parties won't screw us just as much? My goodness, stop portraying one party as the devil and the other god, gosh, its becoming idolatry.
- For those who blogged and scolded people such as me who failed to register in time, and say i am not responsible for my country etc etc, you're right, you are awesome, you have every right to cast the first stone because you are flawless =))
- Who is taking down those freakin' banners, flags and fliers from the streets?? Especially my street!!!
- Oh yea, sure, spend all those resources on the election but leave poor girl who got kidnapped alone, i think i didn't see the girl's poster anywhere now, hmm, hope you feel great by not helping!
- oh oh oh, i'm sure you Christians feel good leaving God out of the elections, oh wait you didn't? Ok, my mistake, yeap, God specifically told YOU to vote a certain party and asking YOU to tell others to vote for the same party, wow, you're definitely getting a REAL BIG HOUSE in heaven.
I'm sure you prayed over and over for His will to be done, and for Him to pick the best suited people in the election, yeap, i'm sure you did your part!!
- Let us see how much change we have in the next 5 years ok?
- Yay!

About that, they all have to take it down, so don't worry =) there's a big fine if they don't.

With what has happened in the last five years, change is good. Any change is good.

Christians and people of other faiths have been praying. Hopefully this is the start of a better Malaysia. Note: Better, not perfect. Yes there is not a single politician who is clean. Yes nobody can take the place of God. We are not drawing clear cut boundaries between good and bad--for Jesus himself did not believe men, for He knew the evil each wretched being is capable of.

But do not forget it is God who puts kings into power, and He will remove those (of course there are wicked governments but we'll leave that discussion for another day)

You know how BN has been abusing their 2/3rd majority to amend the constitution one time too many, or the shit going on--We are not looking for a ruling opposition party. We are looking for accountability and decentralised sources of power.

If someone put "GO EAT PENANG CHAR KUEY TEOW" or "MALACCA ROCKS! GO VISIT!" for their MSN personal message, somehow nobody would take offence. Why is it that political messages are taken with such a bitter aftertaste?

Have we come to view politics as something dirty? That Christians should not even touch it with a ten foot pole?

When you wake up in the morning, til' the time you lay your head to rest, you are political. In choosing to use Colgate, you have excluded Darlie. When you choose to go to a certain Uni for a certain course, it is at the expense of the path not taken. Choices are part and parcel of life--they make up the consequences of our life, just like voting.

People can tell you to vote for party so and so, but ultimately it's your choice. We were granted free will.

(Ah yes, for those who are quick to throw stones at those who didn't register-you can leave those rocks at the register already.)

A healthy dose of cynicism is good, but too much-- and you are taking the easy way out. I do admit that cynicism is enticing because it allows me to wallow, shrouding my cynicism in men with claims that only God is good.

But I do admit (not too sure if that's the same for you) that this impedes my belief that God can indeed work through men.

God is God, even in the realm of politics. He still is the same God that put Joseph and David in power. And the entire Parliament.

Here's to a brighter Malaysia, by His grace.

Salaam.

Thanks, i understand your argument, don't misunderstand me though

i am but ranting on the smaller aspects of the bigger picture,it just annoys me christians take politics so lightly and think they know best when God knows best. Ignorances is what i'm blaming =)

I also believe what happened in the past 5 years hasn't been out of God's will, for God can use all things for His glory and purposes.
Just we don't see what God sees =)

hence, in our mindset, change is and will be good, but let us not make the mistake of saying or assuming what happened before this is something "bad", but rather "all it should be" ordained in God's will.

I appreciate your thoughts and comments though, in no way am i claiming to be anything more than mere flawed human being with a flawed limited mind, so any comment is welcome to provoke thoughts.

Who are you by the way?

See, I think that's where people go wrong when they talk about cynicism. Cynicism isn't an excuse for someone to feel pitiful about themselves or other things. I think the dude/babe is confusing cynicism with apathy or indifference.

Cynics are people who, for some reason or another, have had just about enough of this shit (shit being something not quite right) and have reserved themselves to speak the truth about it. Why it often comes off as being angry of or self-pitiful is because more of than not, the truth hurts. But it's necessary. Cynics are the ones who point out the foolishness and stupidity inherent in any society.(Eg. my man, Jon Stewart) The reason? Usually for good, but yeah there are some who do it just to spite people. Those aren't the cynics, though. I call 'em assholes.
